58 Senators Vote Take Existing Medicare from Seniors

Yesterday 58 Senators voted to kill a motion that would have protected the promise we made to our seniors. They voted to strip $464 billion from Medicare to fund an new entitlement program in Senator Reid’s health care bill. The choice was a stark one: protect America’s seniors from a future of rationed care or cut nearly a half-trillion dollars from a government program facing an unfunded liability of over $37 trillion. In the end, the seniors lost.

With the health care debate now in full swing, these looming tax hikes and Medicare cuts are getting much closer to reality. It’s time to write or call your Senator and tell them enough is enough. They need to push the reset button and pursue real reform that puts patients first and protects America’s seniors.
